On her latest CD, No Rules, Rebecca Lynn Howard reminds me of Betty Harris in some respects. She has a strong, feminine voice that can belt out classic soul and blues with flair and depth. But that same voice can carry the lead on blues-rock songs with a brassy swagger that reminds me of Reba McEntire. The sould tunes include a cover of “Do Right Woman” and “Soul Sisters.” The rockl tunes include “Shakey Ground,” and “New Twist On An Old Groove.”
