R.G. Stark’s latest CD, “Not Crazy Tonight,” is full of ballads from the border of Texas and the edge of myth. CD opens with “Mineral Wells,” which conjures up memories of the Sir Douglas Quintet in its hey day. “Narcorrido Nuevo Laredo” is an open sky tale of tale of drug runners. The highlight of the CD is a foot tapping, bittersweet ballad called “Monterrey,” which has a bit of a desperado feel to it.
