On her 2008 release, Honey Bee, Lucinda Williams manages to fuse her trademark Louisiana twang and alt.country heart ache with a Los Angeles blues-rock vibe to create a stunning and beautiful collection of songs. The epitome of the fusion of her dual worlds is on the last track where she covers the AC/DC song, “It’s A Long Way To The Top.” The other heavy hitting tracks are the opener, “Real Love” and the title track, Little Honey. The heart breaker song on this CD is “If Wishes Were Horses.” Other highlights include “Well, Well, Well” featuring Charlie Louvin and Jim Lauderdale and a toungue-firmly-planted-in-cheek honky tonk tear jerker called “Jail House Tears” featuring Elvis Costello, which could be this generation’s answer to “Jackson” by Johnny Cash/June Carter Cash.
