The long awaited release from Collin Herring, Past Life Crashing, is partly a testament to surving life’s turmoils and partly a celebration of Americana. While you hear the occasional peddle steel wafting in and out of the tracks, this CD has more of a modern electric/indie feel to it which grounds his lyrics into the here and now. This is music ripe for the times. Highlight tracks are “Cellophane,” “One Last Morning,” “Sandstorm,” and the punk-tinged “Yard Cars.”
