Random Comments From Calvin:
The fact that Ray Wylie Hubbard’s CD
hit the top of this chart comes as absolutely no surprise to me, but it makes me super excited anyway. It’s kinda like seeing the good guys win after being beaten up over and over again.
I’m hearing lots of good buzz re: Dave Rawlings Machine,
which does my heart good. For whatever reason, I’ve heard positive comments from two friends about how much they are enjoying this CD and these are folks who are more into the indie rock scene. Soooo I dunno, maybe Rawlings is like a gateway drug, seducing people into the twang…
I’m glad to see Paul Burch
making his way on to the charts. He’s been one of those artists I’ve (not intentionally) neglected over the years but I want to correct that. I heard a cut off this CD on another podcast and it’s good.
My only other comment on the top 10 of the latest FAR chart is, “How the hell was I not aware that Reckless Kelly has a new CD out????” I tell ya, there’s some days when I’m embarrassed to call myself a DJ……
Update: I see now that it’s not officially out until Feb 9th. Gotta bribe my way on to the Yep Roc comp list or something………
