I had the pleasure of seeing Eilen Jewel’s show at The Berkeley Cafe in Raleigh this past Friday. I don’t think many folk singers can make a little black dress with pearls work with cowboy boots, but she does it with style and grace. And musically she’s just as adept at making the music of Loretta Lynn and George Jones sound right at home with the music of Billie Holiday and Bessie Smith. Also this week I added three tracks from the Avett Brothers latest CD I And Love And You to rotation this week, I’m still getting used to the smoother sound from them on this CD. But I know lots of people are really getting into it. I hop we get to seem come back home to North Carolina for some live shows soon.
