Peter Cooper’s latest CD, Mission Door, has just the right mix of dobro, harmonica, and peddle steel to keep that alt.country vibe going. But it’s all window dressing from some of the most authentic, gritty, troubling lyrics I’ve heard in a while. Peter Cooper has a knack for writing songs about people on the verge of crossing a moral line and not really being sure how it’s gonna turn out. The stand out tracks for me are “Boy Genius,” “Take Care,” “They Hate Me,” and most of all, “Couple Of Lies.”
