The U-Liners are a roots band whose debut, self-titled CD mostly a collection of covers from a wide variety of voices in the folk and alt.country scene such as Woodie Guthrie, Gillian Welch, the Grateful Dead, and Dave Alvin. But they include several original songs that fit right into the vibe of the rest of the CD, making for a very pleasant music experience. Highlights for me included the U-Liners original “Three Weeks To Vegas,” a cover of Allen Toussaint’s “I’ll Take A Melody,” Cindy Walker’s “Blue Canadian Rockies,” Dave Alvin’s “Out In California,” and The Greatful Dead’s “Brown Eyed Woman.”
