Army Jacket Winter by Jon Shain

Jon Shain's CD, Army Jacket Winter is full of acoustic singer/songwriter fare with an old-time jazz/blues influence. The CD is full of well turned phrases which are surprisingly modern and apt given the old school feel to the music. But the centerpiece of the CD is Jon's guitar work which is light, complex, and captivating. Highlights includes “Time To Move On,” “Corner Shops and Subway Trains,” “Pictures From The Past,” and “Song for JoJo,” But by far the stand-out track for me is “Silvertone,” an enigmatic song in which John Shain sounds like a southern Van Morrison.
